Responding to public health emergencies
Elsevier makes essential information related to specific public health emergencies openly available to support researchers, healthcare professionals, policy makers and the public. Resources include large bodies of curated, peer-reviewed research articles for as well as guidelines for healthcare professionals. Recent examples of our resource centers include the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and Mpox, with past centers focusing on the Zika and Ebola virus.
We also partner with the US National Library of Medicine on the Emergency Access Initiative opens in new tab/window to provide temporary free access to full-text article to healthcare professionals, librarians, and members of the public affected by disasters in the US and beyond, including the hurricanes Irma, Harvey and Maria (2017), and the earthquakes in Mexico (2017).
