SciVal is an advanced analytics solution, built on a core of Scopus® data, that enables the flexible evaluation of any research field as well as the research performance of individuals, research groups, departments, institutions, and countries. The core of SciVal is based on output and usage data from Scopus®, a source-neutral abstract and citation database curated by independent subject matter experts. In addition to the bibliometric data from Scopus®, SciVal also includes policy, patent, mass media and awarded grants data.
SciVal uses Scopus data from 1996 to current date, which covers over 60 million records. SciVal receives a weekly update of new data from Scopus and due to processing times this means SciVal is typically 1-2 weeks behind Scopus.
SciVal offers an extensive array of simple and more sophisticated metrics to enable their confident and appropriate use in strategic decision making and benchmarking. There are more than 30 metrics available to use as part of your evidence base, including the bibliometrics used by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) in their World University Rankings and THE Impact Rankings.
