Talk Title: Dissecting human antibody responses to mpox

Dr. Coelho is a Biomedical Laureate Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Sao Paulo and Federal University of Minas Gerais. Following graduate school, she worked as postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown University, intramural NIAID/NIH, and La Jolla Institute for Immunology. Her laboratory studies human B cell and antibody responses to vaccines against emerging and re-emerging pathogens, and she has made critical contributions to the understanding of antibody responses to vaccines against malaria, SARS-CoV-2 and mpox. She was the recipient of the 2019 Centennial Award of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She currently serves in vaccine-related NIH study sections and is a member of the USAID Advisory Committee on Malaria Vaccines and of the Steering Committee for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the US Department of Defense.
