Dr. Rama Patnaik

K. Rama Patnaik, Librarian at the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT BANGALORE, Bengaluru, has a Doctoral Degree in Library and Information Science from the Andhra University of Visakhapatnam, India, and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in library and information science from Andhra University. Her thesis on “Marketing of Library and Information Services in Indian Libraries: Present Trends and Future Perspectives” was adjudicated as an excellent thesis by the School of Information Science, Michigan University, in 2002. She also holds a master’s degree in Sociology and Politics. She had secured gold medals in both Master’s and bachelor’s programs in Library and Information Science. She has been with IIMB for more than 16 years now, and before joining IIM Bangalore, she was with two leading National Law school libraries. She was awarded the Emerald LIS Research Fund Award for best research proposal among South Asian Librarians 2012 for writing a research proposal. She has published three books and fifteen papers in reputed journals. She is a course writer for INFLIBNET epathshala, University of Hyderabad, and B R Ambedkar Open University Programmes on Library and Information Science. She was also a consultant for an online course on Plagiarism published by Epegum in association with Oxford University Press. 

 She was recently invited to participate in the International Library Leadership Program convened by the British Library in London and sponsored by British Library India. Her areas of professional interest are Integrating Technology in Information services, current trends in the Management of Electronic resources, copyright challenges in the digital era, and creating subject profiles with instructional design using LibGuides and use of library resources for various genres of research. She has also created a web tutorial using LibGuides (cognitive load theory) on using copyrighted and licensed digital content for IIMB faculty and students and library and information literacies for graduate students.
