Molly Stevens is Professor of Biomedical Materials and Regenerative Medicine and the Research Director for Biomedical Material Sciences in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. She joined ICL after Postdoctoral training in the field of tissue engineering with Professor Langer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to this she graduated with a PhD in Biophysics and Surface Analysis from the University of Nottingham. She has received numerous awards including the the Polymer International-IUPAC award for creativity in polymer science, the Rosenhain medal and the Norman Heatley Prize for Interdisciplinary research from the Royal Society of Chemistry. She was also recognised by the TR100 as of the top young innovators transforming technology, and the world, with their work. The highly multidisciplinary research in her group focuses on the design of bioactive materials for regenerative medicine and biosensing applications. She is the founder of spin-out companies and won the ACES pan-European Amgen Life Sciences Award in 2009 for transforming outstanding science into healthcare products.
