I am a consultant general paediatrician and Head of the Immunisation service at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. I completed a Masters of Public Health at Cardiff University (2006) and vaccinology PhD at the University of Melbourne (2012). I am the Director of SAEFVIC opens in new tab/window, the Victorian vaccine safety service, based at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute opens in new tab/window and I established the Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre opens in new tab/window in 2012. I am a Professor at the Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne and my research interests include vaccine safety and policy, immunisation of special risk groups and emerging infections, particularly those that may soon be vaccine preventable. I have been a member of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI opens in new tab/window) since 2014 and was appointed Chair in 2021.
