Materials Today Rising Star Awards

The Materials Today Rising Star Awards recognize early career researchers in the fields of materials science and engineering. Launched by the Materials Today Family of journals in 2018, the Awards are presented to those who have demonstrated exceptional potential to make a real impact and become future leaders in the materials science and engineering fields.

The 2024 Awards will be sponsored by three of the Materials Today journals – Materials Today, Materials Today Bio and Materials Today Energy. There are six Awards available spread over four categories:

  • Biomaterials: Two Awards sponsored by Materials Today and Materials Today Bio.

  • Energy Conversion & Storage: Two Awards sponsored by Materials Today and Materials Today Energy.

  • Materials Data Science & AI: One Award sponsored by Materials Today.

  • Sustainability: One Award sponsored by Materials Today.

Nomination guidelines

Nominations for the 2024 Materials Today Rising Star Awards are now open--please fill out and submit the form here https://forms.office.com/r/W6sz2Yc6CQopens in new tab/window by September 1st, 2024.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants should have completed their PhD within the past 10 years.

Judging and prizes

The judging panels will consist of editors from the three sponsoring journals, who will evaluate all eligible candidates based on the impact of their research and their contributions to the materials community. Each winner will receive an honorarium of USD 1,000.
