Dr. Caixia “Ellen” Wan is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical, Biological, and Chemical Engineering at University of Missouri. She received her Ph.D. degree in Biological Engineering in the Ohio State University in 2011.

Her research interests are focused on bioprocessing, biomass and biorefinery, and biomanufacturing technologies. Her lab has been working on research projects involving deep eutectic solvents, biomass conversion, biosynthesis of biodegradable polyester polymers, and biocatalysis and biotransformation. She has more than 15 years’ experience in bioengineering and has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of bioprocessing and biotechnology.
