Conference speaker
Professor Michael S. Silverstein holds the Sherman–Gilbert Chair in Energy at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and is the Chairman of the Technion's Interdepartmental Program in Polymer Engineering. He joined the Technion after receiving a BASc with Honours in Engineering Science, University of Toronto, receiving a DSc from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Technion, and performing postdoctoral research at the Department of Macromolecular Science, Case Western Reserve University. Silverstein is presently investigating a plethora of novel, emulsion-templated, porous polymers and has recently developed some extraordinary materials: water-droplet-filled elastomers, porous shape memory polymers, and exceptionally water-absorbent hydrogels. Silverstein edited the book "Porous Polymers", has organized nine "Porous Polymers" conference symposia, and is an Associate Editor for Polymer International.
