More about how Reaxys works

Drawing on a depth and breadth of chemistry literature, Reaxys allows faster analysis of results using visualization tools and automates synthesis planning. And now, Reaxys is advancing with:

  • Data: Predictive modelling based on the largest and most robust corpus of

more than 15 million single-step reactions when compared to other chemistry databases.

  • Technology: Our predictive model uses three neural networks together with Monte Carlo tree search (3N-MCTS), which results in delivering better performance in terms of the number of small organic molecules provided for a synthetic sequence and the time it takes to propose a synthesis route. Also included is a Reverse Transcriptase tool for more efficient analysis and quantification.

  • User experience: We’ve designed Reaxys with an intuitive interface for better interaction with synthetic sequences and to efficiently explore the literature associated with route suggestions, as well as a scoring system for ranking routes. Please note that routes are terminated in starting materials that may be purchased separately.

"I also like that patents are now fully incorporated and that procedural information can be extracted with one click, as it means that students do not have to go through a 100-page patent to find one procedure."

Reaxys covers...

  • 260+ million organic, inorganic and organometallic substances, including data on natural products with their species derivation

  • 73+ million chemical reactions

  • 500+ million published experimental facts, including substance property, spectral and reaction data

  • 44+ million bioactivities

  • 100+ million documents from a collection of over 16,000 chemistry-related periodicals from multiple publishers

  • 35+ million patents from 105 patent offices. Titles, abstracts and claims are translated to English

  • 310+ million commercial products

  • 6 indexing sources for a cross-disciplinary view of chemistry

"Reaxys has millions of reactions and molecules. In terms of coverage, it has a broader variety of reaction classes than a lot of other databases."
