From a technical perspective, there is an opportunity to use a shared infrastructure via GetFTR which checks for entitlements. This way researchers can seamlessly connect with relevant articles on ScienceDirect from a variety of publishers. However, GetFTR functionality is not mandatory.
We hope that by collaborating with a growing number of publishers and societies, we learn together how to improve the research ecosystem and, as publishers, promote the shared value of safeguarding trust in science.
