Profile
Edith Gabriel has been a Director of Research at INRAE since 2020, leading the BioSP unit (Biostatistics and Spatial Processes). She specializes in bridging statistical modeling and environmental applications. After completing her PhD in 2004 at the University of Montpellier and a postdoctoral fellowship at Lancaster University, she became a senior lecturer at Avignon University and earned her HDR in 2014. Her expertise includes spatio-temporal point processes and geostatistics. She has developed methods for estimating intensity functions from censored data, detecting and modeling spatio-temporal structures, and more recently, integrating hybrid approaches that combine machine learning and spatial statistics to address complex environmental and epidemiological challenges.
