Talk Title: The microalgal chloroplast as an engineering biology platform.
Saul Purton is Professor of Algal Biotechnology at University College London (UCL). He obtained his PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and then worked on Chlamydomonas molecular genetics as an EMBO Fellow at the University of Geneva. Since joining UCL in 1991 his research has focussed on both fundamental studies of chloroplast biology and applied studies aimed at developing green algae as synthetic biology platforms for sustainable production of recombinant therapeutics.
