Suzy obtained her PhD in nuclear waste forms from the University of Sheffield, whilst working with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and SCK-CEN. She then moved to the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), where she has spent time studying the microstructures of spent nuclear fuels, claddings and structural components within the UK’s heavily shielded “hot cells”. She is an NNL Laboratory Fellow and Capability Leader, and also has a specific interest in materials characterisation techniques that can be developed and deployed for remote handling within the hot cells.
