Chairs Welcome

It is my great pleasure to warmly invite you to the 9th Green and Sustainable Chemistry Conference (GSCC9)!

The 9th GSCC will held on 4-6 March 2025. For many aspects, this is special. After successful eight editions in Europe, organised by Prof. Dr. Klaus Kümmerer and Mr. Rob van Daalen of Elsevier, the conference is moving to Asia next year. It will be hosted by the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), one of the premier research labs in India and will be facilitated by the local co-chair, Dr. Shubhangi Umbarkar. Organising this conference in NCL is quite special for me as this is where I shaped my research career. NCL has a tradition of organising several (inter)national conferences. It is located in Pune, which is a historical city with a modern and cosmopolitan outlook. Pune is well connected nationally and internationally and is easily reachable from Mumbai (Bombay), the business capital of India. The city, which is one of the largest educations hubs of India, has excellent hotels and offers a wide variety of cuisines from all over the world.

The 9th conference will continue the rich traditions of the previous editions of GSCC, especially the interdisciplinarity of the themes. As Prof. Kümmerer stressed in his previous addresses, we need even more interdisciplinary exchange and concepts, understanding and working within multiple disciplines to solve the challenges the society face currently. The GSCC conference will coninue to contribute towards the attempts to foster such an interdisciplinary effort. Thus, the 9th GSCC will offer a great platform to discuss and further develop the key characteristics of sustainable chemistry, the relationship of sustainable chemistry and green chemistry, and the role of chemistry within a circular economy.

I look forward to seeing you in at the 9th GSCC in Pune in March 2025!

Shiju Raveendran Conference Chair

Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy

All authors of accepted contributions to the Green and Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Berlin are invited to submit a manuscript to Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy opens in new tab/window.

Your article will receive a lot of extra promotion by extensive marketing campaigns for this new journal and a promotional open access of three months. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a high quality review process before a final decision being made.

Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy opens in new tab/window publishes research that is related to chemistry, pharmacy and sustainability science in a forward oriented manner. It provides a unique forum for the publication of innovative research on the intersection and overlap of chemistry and pharmacy on the one hand and sustainability on the other hand. This includes contributions related to increasing sustainability of chemistry and pharmaceutical science and industries itself as well as their products in relation to the contribution of these to sustainability itself. As an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary journal it addresses all sustainability related issues along the life cycle of chemical and pharmaceutical products form resource related topics until the end of life of products.
