Professor Dong holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from University of Delaware, and is currently a Distinguished Professor and Dean of the College of Hydrosphere of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. He serves as Editor of Sustainable Environment Research and Editors Board for Bioresource Technology.
He leads a research group working mainly on the study of marine sediments, in management and remediation, focusing on fate and transport of hydrocarbons in marine environment. He is active in research on the synthesis of biochar and its applications on catalytic oxidation of hazardous chemicals such as halogenated hydrocarbon (petroleum residues) and antibiotics (pharmaceuticals) are world’s pioneering research.
He has been a PI for total of 30 million USD of funded research from governmental and industry sources since 2005, and publishing over 350-refereed articles.
