Conference Speaker
Roger Weaver is the Associate Dean of Libraries at the Missouri University of Science and Technology where he leads the libraries’ digital and scholarly communications initiatives and serves as the Dean’s primary advisor regarding strategic planning, policy formation, budgeting and library operations. Roger represents the library on the University’s Research Council, JED Campus Health and Well-Being Committee, University Web Taskforce, and the University of Missouri System Library Deans Council. Roger revived the University’s institution repository, known as Scholars’ Mine, and has over the years grown it to be a vital global resource. He is an avid supporter of institutional repositories and has spoken about the topic both nationally and internationally. He leads the campus PURE implementation and is developing a series of scholar communications focused tutorials for both graduate and under-graduate students. He hopes to revive the annual Student Art in the Library programming and the bepress Heartland Users Group, both of which he originated.
Roger is active in the local community and serves on the board and performs with of the Rolla Choral Arts Society. He has also served on the Rolla Sister City Committee and represented Rolla as an ambassador to Sondershausen, Germany. He is currently investigating the possibility of creating a My Little Library for the small town in which he lives. Roger spends his spare time in his art studio working in both glass and ceramics.
