Dr Susan S Margulies S’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre leads the US National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Engineering, which provides over 40% of federal funding for innovative foundational engineering research and educational initiatives at academic institutions to enhance the prosperity, equity and quality of life for all Americans.
Dr Margulies joined the NSF in August 2021 from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. While on detail at the NSF, she is a Professor and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar at Georgia Tech and Emory.
Dr Margulies is internationally recognized for pioneering studies to identify mechanisms underlying brain injuries in children and adolescents and lung injuries associated with mechanical ventilation, leading to improved injury prevention, diagnosis and treatments. Internationally recognized for pioneering studies to understand brain and lung injuries, she is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Inventors, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association of the Advancement of Science.
