Khalid Shalan is the interim area manager for Egypt and North-East Africa, and consultant for Elsevier core research solutions in Africa, responsible for capacity building and supporting researchers using ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Mendeley. Coming from a background in academia, Khalid worked on multiple roles in the British University in Egypt and Nile University as a teaching assistant, research engineer, and technology transfer officer. He graduated with honors from Cairo University Mechanical Design Engineering Program where he also received his Masters. In 2015, he joined Northwestern University in Illinois, USA on a Fulbright grant working on research funded by US DoE and in collaboration with Industry.
