Publisher

  • Your primary contact

  • Responsible for the strategy and overall success of the journal

  • Appoints and replaces editors and Advisory Editorial Board members and reviews their performance

  • Provides updates on key performance indicators and analysis (such as journal and editorial statistics, ScienceDirect downloads, citation information, author satisfaction research results, and publication times)

  • Sets the future journal strategy, in consultation with editors and the rest of the Advisory Editorial Board, and ensures that it is acted upon

  • Conducts desk and field research on market trends and competition

  • Attends key conferences to keep up to date with the field, identify potential editors and contributors and to expand their network

  • Communicates publishing policies and procedures, and new developments

  • Arranges the journal’s finances, including editor payments

  • Officially invites or retires editors and Advisory Editorial Board members

  • Arranges meetings with the editors and the Advisory Editorial Board and uses the above information to prepare reports for these meetings

  • Develops plans for special issues and/or supplements with editors, the Advisory Editorial Board, and helps identify potential contributors (guest editors, authors)

  • Guides and supports editors in the event of a publishing ethics allegation

  • Offers expert advice and support for editors regarding questions on scholarly communications and journal publishing policies

  • Begins setup of the call for papers on the journal homepage

  • Triggers special issue promotion, such as the author outreach program (in conjunction with the marketing team)

  • Provides you with guidance, timelines and status updates, including setting up automated reporting

  • Replies to potential authors who have been contacted

  • Is the first point of contact for administrative issues throughout the publication process

  • Triggers the closing of the submissions portal once all manuscripts have been received
