Shyama Rath is a Professor at Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi, India.
She received a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1994, a Masters’ in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and Bachelors with Physics Hons. from Utkal University, India. Subsequent to her PhD, she gained post-doctoral experience in University of Electro-communications, Tokyo, Imperial College and University of Surrey, U.K. She has also been a Visiting Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
She has been associated with International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna as a consultant and in a coordinated research project on investigations on the material aspects of Si radiation detectors. She has received fellowships from Japan Society for Promotion of Science and Monbusho, Japan and Royal Society, U.K. under bilateral projects and has implemented several sponsored research projects.
Her research interests include semiconductors, nanomaterials, 2D materials, thin films, material modification using ion beams, defects, and she has experience in a range of techniques for materials characterization with an emphasis on optical spectroscopy.
