World Health Organization (WHO)

Agreement

The World Health Organization (WHO) Policy on Open Access requires funded authors and employees to make their research articles available open access and to be deposited in PubMedCentral (PMC) or Europe PubMed Central (Europe PMC) by the date of publication.

When publishing with Elsevier, WHO employees should choose the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Intergovernmental Organization (CC BY 3.0 IGO) end user license. Authors funded by WHO should choose the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license.

For detailed information about these requirements, please refer to the WHO Open Access policy 新しいタブ/ウィンドウで開く.

Gold open access

Authors can publish gold open access in any of Elsevier’s fully open access journals 新しいタブ/ウィンドウで開く or Transformative Journals 新しいタブ/ウィンドウで開く. WHO should reimburse reasonable Article Publishing Charge payments for articles published in these titles, in line with its open access policy.

Authors can also publish gold open access in the majority of other Elsevier journals. Where authors wish to publish gold open access in these journals, they will be asked to agree to pay an Article Publishing Charge (APC) at the point of submission. As WHO funds can’t be used to cover these APCs, if authors (or their organizations) are unable to fund these fees they should contact Elsevier to discuss their options.
