Christine Dahlke

CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Germany

Christine Dahlke is the Translational Immunology Lead at CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations). She holds a PhD in biology with a focus on virology and molecular biology. In her post-doc period, she combined molecular biology, immunology and vaccinology and studied innate and adaptive immunity in humans after vaccination to improve the understanding of how vaccines work and to find markers that predict protection against disease or infection.

She has worked for the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE) and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and led the immune monitoring strategy for numerous vaccine clinical trials. She is interested in the development of vaccines against emerging viruses and the evaluation of biomarker.

After nine years of vaccine research at the UKE, where she worked on several clinical trials testing vaccines against Ebola virus, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, she transitioned from UKE to a new role as Translational Immunology Lead at CEPI. Here she develops strategies for the evaluation of immune markers for vaccines and is the project leader for the Controlled Human Challenge and the Correlate of Protection Programme.
