Xiaolong Wang, born in 1969, from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is an expert in wildlife infectious diseases, and a professor, doctoral supervisor at Northeast Forestry University. He serves as the director of the China-Ethiopia Joint Laboratory for Wildlife Disease Research and the director of the Key Laboratory for the Wildlife Diseases and Biosecurity Management of Heilongjiang Province. He is an expert in the global control of Peste des Petits Ruminants" (PPR) for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an interface advisor for diseases in the Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asian sub-regions for the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), the chairman of the National Innovation Alliance for Wildlife Biosecurity Control, a director of the Chinese Society for Animal Infectious Diseases, and the vice-chairman of the Society for Animal Infectious Diseases of Heilongjiang Province. He has long been engaged in research on the spatial epidemiology of wildlife, independently developed a wildlife disease early warning and spatial epidemiology research platform adopted by the national African swine fever control plan; proposed the interface theory, which received written recognition from the FAO; and has guided graduate students to win the FAO Special Prize for PPR Research twice.
