Diabetes mellitus is a multifaceted metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, which poses significant health challenges worldwide. This webinar aims to delve into the intricate relationship between diabetes management and the biochemical pathways involved, with a particular focus on off-target effects, bioactivity, and the pivotal enzyme Stearoyl-CoA 9-desaturase (SCD1). We will begin by examining the role of SCD1 in lipid metabolism and its implications for insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis. Studies suggest that modulation of SCD1 activity can influence the bioactivity of various pharmacological agents used in diabetes treatment, potentially leading to unintended off-target effects.
