Origin
The anterior glandular branch of the superior thyroid artery arises from the superior thyroid artery, the first branch of the external carotid artery.
Course
The anterior glandular branch of the superior thyroid artery descends along the medial border of the upper pole of the right and left lobes of the thyroid gland.
Branches
There are no named branches of the anterior glandular branch of the superior thyroid artery, however, at the isthmus of the thyroid gland, the right and left anterior glandular branches anastomose.
Supplied Structures
The anterior glandular branch of the superior thyroid artery supplies the anterior surface of the thyroid gland.
