Supplied Structures: Medial aspect of the ankle joint.
Related parts of the anatomy
Origin
The anterior medial malleolar artery arises from the anterior tibial artery, roughly 5 cm proximal to the ankle joint (Standring, 2016).
Course
The anterior medial malleolar artery runs inferomedially, deep to the tendons of the extensor hallucis longus and tibialis anterior muscles.
Branches
There are no named branches, however, the anterior medial malleolar artery anastomoses with the medial malleolar branches of the posterior tibial artery, the medial tarsal artery, and the medial plantar artery to form the medial malleolar network.
Supplied Structures
The anterior medial malleolar artery supplies the medial aspect of the ankle.
