Arteries of Female Genital System
Arteriae systematis genitalis feminine
Read moreDescription
The female genital system is supplied by the ovarian arteries, which are paired branches from the abdominal aorta, and by several branches which arise directly or indirectly from the anterior division of the internal iliac arteries.
The internal pudendal artery and its branches provide the main arterial supply to the external genitalia.
The vagina is supplied by the vaginal artery, and branches of the uterine artery and the middle rectal artery.
The uterus and cervix are primarily supplied by the uterine artery, while the uterine tubes receive arterial supply from both the uterine tube and the ovarian artery.
The ovaries are supplied by the ovarian arteries. These arteries anastomose with a branch of the uterine artery.
