Description
The arterial supply of the kidneys comes from paired right and left renal arteries that arise from the abdominal aorta. There are commonly one or two accessory renal arteries, a vestige of the embryonic ascent of the kidneys from the pelvis. Renal and accessory renal arteries enter the organ at the hilum of the kidney.
