Origin

The deep branch of the superior gluteal artery runs laterally between the gluteus medius and minimus muscles, where it divides into superior and inferior branches.

Course

The inferior branch runs laterally along the gluteus minimus.

Branches

It gives small branches to the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus. It also forms anastomoses with the ascending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery.

Supplied Structures

It aids in the arterial supply of the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus muscles and lateral aspect of the hip via its anastomoses.
