Origin
The parietal branch of the superficial temporal artery arises from the superficial temporal artery as one of its terminal branches, approximately 2.5 cm above the zygomatic arch.
Course
The parietal branch of the superficial temporal artery passes posterosuperiorly, superficial to the temporal fascia.
Branches
There are no named branches; however, the parietal branch of the superficial temporal artery anastomosis with its fellow artery on the opposite side, as well as the posterior auricular and occipital arteries.
Supplied Structures
The parietal branch of the superficial temporal artery supplies the auricularis anterior, posterior, and superior muscles.

The superficial temporal artery is the smaller terminal branch of the external carotid artery, with its origin in the parotid gland behind the neck of the mandible.
