Related parts of the anatomy
Origin
Three perforating branches arise from the plantar arch.
Course
The perforating branches of the plantar arch extend dorsally in the second to fourth intermetatarsal spaces, between the heads of the dorsal interossei, to anastomose with the dorsal metatarsal arteries.
Branches
There are no named branches.
Supplied Structures
The perforating branches of the plantar arch provide an arterial supply to the structures of the intermetatarsal spaces and adjacent structures. They also aid in the formation of a collateral vascular supply to the metatarsal and phalangeal regions of the foot.
