Origin

The inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery gives rise to anterior and posterior branches.

Course

The posterior inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery passes superior slightly to the left of the anterior inferior artery, posterior to the head of the pancreas.

Branches

The posterior inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery terminates with small anastomotic branches that join those from the posterior superior pancreaticoduodenal artery to form a posterior pancreaticoduodenal arterial arcade.

Supplied Structures

The posterior inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery supplies the uncinate process and head of the pancreas. It also supplies the second and third parts (or descending and horizontal parts) of the duodenum.
