Origin

The tracheal branches originate from the inferior thyroid artery as it ascends in the neck.

Course

From their origin, the tracheal branches travel medially, posterior to the carotid sheath to reach the trachea. When they reach the trachea, the branches form a network of vessels that descend along its length.

There are no named branches, however, the tracheal branches of the inferior thyroid artery anastomose with the bronchial arteries.
