Description

The deep veins of the leg include the anterior and posterior tibial veins and the fibular (peroneal) vein. These veins are venae comitantes to their corresponding arteries. The anterior and posterior tibial veins unite to form the popliteal vein at the distal end of the popliteus muscle. The fibular vein drains into the posterior tibial vein before this union.
