Origin

The lateral mammary branches originate in the lateral aspect of the breast.

Course

As they leave the breast, they curve around the lateral border of pectoralis major to drain into the lateral thoracic vein.

Tributaries

There are no named tributaries of the lateral mammary branches.

Structures Drained

The lateral mammary branches drain blood from the lateral aspect of the breast and from the areolar venous plexus (of Haller) (Dorland, 2011).
