Course
The medial plantar vein passes between the abductor hallucis and flexor digitorum brevis muscles, accompanied by the medial plantar artery. They unite with the lateral plantar vein to form the posterior tibial vein.

The medial plantar vein receives the plantar venous arch.
Structures Drained
The medial plantar vein drains the medial aspect of the foot, including the abductor hallucis, flexor digitorum brevis, and quadratus plantae muscles (Ricci et al, 2014).
