Quick Facts
Origin: Smaller unnamed veins.
Course: Proximally, along the digits towards the metacarpals.
Tributaries: Oblique veins.
Drainage: Digits.
Origin
Smaller vessels within the digits coalesce to form the palmar digital veins.
Course
The palmar digital veins course proximally along the palmar aspect on either side of the digits. The palmar digital veins are typically accompanied by the proper palmar digital arteries (Doyle and Botte, 2003).
Tributaries
The oblique veins arise from the palmar digital veins and unite with the dorsal digital veins (Standring, 2016).
Structures Drained
The palmar digital veins contribute to the venous drainage of the digits.
