Origin
The paraumbilical veins arise along the anterior abdominal wall and the inferior surface of the diaphragm.
Course
The small paraumbilical veins travel posterosuperior from their origin along the falciform ligament to typically drain venous blood into the left hepatic portal vein.
Tributaries
There are no named tributaries; however, they do anastomosis with other veins along the anterior abdominal wall including the superior epigastric veins (Standring, 2016).
