Origin

The posterior segmental medullary veins originating at the lateral aspect of the posterolateral and posterior spinal veins.

Course

The posterior segmental medullary veins pass laterally in the subarachnoid space towards the intervertebral foramen where it meets the anterior segmental medullary veins and drains into the intervertebral veins.

Tributaries

The posterior segmental medullary veins receive the posterior and posterolateral spinal veins and the network formed between these vessels.

Structures Drained

The posterior segmental medullary veins primarily drain the dorsal aspect of the spinal cord and the subarachnoid space.
