Description

The right inferior pulmonary vein is responsible for the venous drainage of the inferior lobe of the right lung. It is formed by the union of the superior and common basal veins. The right inferior pulmonary vein crosses medially to pierce the fibrous pericardium and drains into the posteroinferior aspect of the left atrium.
