Description

The right superior pulmonary vein is responsible for the venous drainage of the superior and middle lobes of the right lung. It is formed by the union of the middle lobe, apical, anterior, and posterior veins. The right superior pulmonary vein crosses medially from the hilum of the right lung, pierces the fibrous pericardium, and drains into the posterosuperior aspect of the left atrium.
