Origin: Arises along the greater curvature of the stomach.
Course: Travels inferomedially along the greater curvature of the stomach to drain into the superior mesenteric vein.
Tributaries: Occasionally the right colic vein and/or the superior pancreaticoduodenal vein.
Drainage: Greater omentum and distal body and antrum of the stomach.
Origin
The right gastroomental vein arises along the greater curvature of the stomach.
Course
The right gastroomental vein travels medially along the greater curvature in the superior portion of the gastrocolic ligament. Prior to the pylorus, the vein passes posterior to drain into the superior mesenteric vein.
Tributaries
Occasionally the right colic vein and/or the superior pancreaticoduodenal vein will join the right gastroomental vein (Standring, 2016).
Structures Drained
The right gastroomental vein drains the greater omentum and the distal body and antrum of the stomach.
