Description

Systemic veins are one of the three types of blood vessels found within the systemic circulation, the other two being systemic arteries and systemic capillaries. The systemic veins are described as the blood vessels that carry blood to the heart from all the tissues of the body, except the lungs. Deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium of the heart via the superior or inferior vena cava.

Systemic capillaries are located within the tissues of the body. They are the sites where exchange of nutrients and waste products occurs between the blood and these tissues.
