Quick Facts
Origin: Union of venules along the transverse perineal muscle.
Course: Travels horizontally on surface of the transverse perineal muscle to drain into perineal vein.
Tributaries: No tributaries.
Drainage: Transverse perineal muscle.
Origin
The transverse perineal vein may not always be present. It originates as a branch of the perineal vein, close to the superficial transverse perineal muscle.
Course
From its origin, the transverse perineal vein runs horizontally on the surface of the transverse perineal muscle to drain into the perineal vein (Netter, 2011).
Tributaries
The transverse perineal vein does not receive any tributaries. It forms an anastomosis with the corresponding transverse perineal vein.
Structures Drained
The transverse perineal vein drains the superficial transverse perineal muscle in the superficial perineal space.
