Description
The female reproductive system is drained by the right and left ovarian veins. The right vein drains directly into the inferior vena cava, whereas the left ovarian vein drains into the left renal vein.
Tributaries of the internal iliac veins drain the interconnecting pelvis, rectal, uterine, and vaginal venous plexuses into the systemic circulation. Additionally, the superior rectal vein may drain venous blood from the pelvis into the inferior mesenteric vein.
