Description
The thyroid gland receives extensive venous drainage due to its function as an endocrine organ. Drainage is usually via the superior, middle, and inferior thyroid veins. The superior and middle thyroid veins return venous blood to the internal jugular vein, while the inferior thyroid vein drains into the brachiocephalic vein.
