Structure
The cartilaginous framework of the nose is anchored to the piriform aperture by fibrous tissue. The lateral crura of the major alar cartilages do not extend to the piriform aperture, thus, leaving a space that is filled by fibrofatty tissue and the minor alar cartilages.
