Structure

The plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments are short fibrous slips that connect the plantar surfaces of the tarsals to the metatarsals. These are less organized compared to their dorsal counterparts.

The first, second, and third metatarsal bones receive plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments from the medial, intermediate, and lateral cuneiform bones, respectively. Additionally, the second and third metatarsals receive oblique bands from the medial cuneiform bone. The fourth and fifth metatarsals receive fibers from the cuboid bone.
