Description
The tendon sheaths of the upper limb are specialized osseoaponeurotic tunnels that wrap around and encase muscle tendons; they anchor them in place as the pass deep to retinacula or fibrous digital sheaths.
The tendon sheaths contain synovial fluid and are also referred to as ‘synovial tendon sheaths. A synovial tendon sheath is made up of two layers, an inner (visceral) layer that is attached to the tendon and the outer (parietal) layer, which is attached to the outer fibrous layer of the tendon sheath.
